The Research Platform Digital Medicine connects researchers at the Medical University of Vienna with the goal of advancing research, teaching, and the translation of digital medicine into clinical practice.
Research
Research in this area encompasses the development of technology, its translation into clinical benefit, and the transformation of clinical workflows to improve diagnosis, therapy, and patient management through digital technologies.
The research spans fields ranging from artificial intelligence, robotics, and bioinformatics to augmented and virtual reality, as well as data spaces and analytics methods at both the individual patient and population levels.
Teaching
Digital medicine plays a major role in teaching at the Medical University of Vienna. In addition to dedicated content within Master’s and PhD programs, a postgraduate program in Digital Medicine is offered.
Translation to clinical reality
Together with the University Hospital Vienna, the Medical University of Vienna forms one of the largest medical centers in Europe. The close proximity between research and clinical care makes it possible to implement new developments in clinical practice, combine the development of technology with new treatment methods, and conduct large-scale validation studies. Within this environment, the platform not only focuses on research but also serves as a bridge between research and clinical application.
